Alternate Image A mechanical bird in a cage with a spring sticking out.
Interpretation When you stop, you die. You cannot have perfection, only growth or decay, so what looks like an ending or stopping place is preparation for the next stage.
Fire illuminating the abyss. Chaos and change always lie in wait.
Reversal Be careful of the flaws in supposed perfection, and wary of a search for stasis.

Hi Here’s another perspective... Hx. 1 (Brightness) and Hx.2 (Shadow) are the two hexagrams which are the furthest apart – One all bright lines the other all shadow lines. These are at the beginning of the King Wen sequence.
At the end of the First Cannon (The book is in two halves or Canons) You have Kan (Gorge/ Water and Li (Brightness). Paradoxically Kan has a slight preponderance of bright lines and Li a slight preponderance of shadow lines. They are a sort of one step of integration, but they balance one against the other.
Hx 63. and its partner 64 are the most integrated. shadow and light alternating, Water and Fire.
Looked at like this something quite wonderful is happening here. The Wen sequence is a movement to integration. It parallels alchemies desire to make perfection by integrating fire and water.
Sorry your lovely blog caught my eye and I could not resist.

Thank you for your wonderful comments. I will definitely keep them in mind as I try to tie all of the various threads into the Net of Mirrors. And I think I need to review some of my books on the I Ching before I will completely follow you.
I need to meditate on how this all relates to the Bright side of the cards. (The Bright Gate 8 is the Shepherdess, which has to do with the spiritual directing the material.)

this is a great comment. It is making my brain twitch, and when I have time I need to go check my Ifa patterns. I think this may help me unravel the movement better!! Happy dance.

I had a quick look at your work and have bookmarked it to return to when I have more time.
I am uncertain about the idea of integrating the Yijing because its imagery is ordered as a life’s development. The great energies of Qian and Kun initiating life as two voices (if you like) the crossover of the energy at 29:30 (energy swithed backwards - all hexagrams are in pairs Yin and Yang - and Li is in the Yin postion here)they mark the end of the first half of life (up to about age 30) followed by the second cycle which ends with 61:62 - Look at them in this light you will see what I mean)
63:64 is what is after – the great integration with the two switching one to the other (flipping over one make the other).
There are many secrets hidden in the imagery and words for these two.
What you are doing with meditating on the images of these systems sounds very wonderful indeed… I am looking forward to reading more.
Thanks
