Roofs of kitchens and stables were changed to tile during Kageshi's renovations to decrease fire danger.

The carriage court (1) and practice court (2) are graveled. Practice court has a few plants in tubs. The carriage court and stable court (3) have walls and inner gates that are strong enough to provide a second line of defense if the main outer gates fail.
